Over 2,200 people attended this year’s tcworld conference in Wiesbadan, Germany. This is organized annually by tekom, the German professional association for technical communication. The trade fair and conference attracted a large number of translation industry people including PSBT members from Centrum Lokalizacji C&M, Lido Lang, Magit and MAart Agency. Michal Tyszkowski of Centrum Lokalizacji C&M gave a very well received presentation, “Human Assisted Machine Terminology Management”. Michal’s presentation showed how a translation company should respond to their customer’s terminology needs. Monika Popiolek, Vice President of the PSBT and President of MAart and Peter Reynolds, CEO of TM-Global gave a workshop on the practical implementation of EN 15038 standard. Despite the early start for the workshop, it was very well attended and the feedback was excellent. The workshop was based on real process charts, practical tips and examples of how to efficiently and quickly proceed with implementation and certification. The conference was also a good source of new ideas and information about tools and technologies.
